A secret is something I don't tell because it is too painful, embarrassing, or stupid to acknowledge to another person. A lie is purposeful misinformation to another person. We all have secrets, or things that we don't want people to know. If we let people know those things, we make ourselves vulnerable. There is an important difference between secrets and lies.

Think it like a process. Think it the other way around: you do not lie (have "secrets") because you are afraid or scared of facing the consequences; you use lies (and hide "secrets") because others are not prepared for the "truth". <strong>Morality is very relative!</strong> Ashamed? For me, every time I lie I lose a part of myself, a part of my confidence, as I am ashamed of what I did or thought. It's a difference between being me and being what others belive I am.
